Crystals work best if we know how to work with them effectively, and part of this is knowing which chakra your stone is related to. Below you’ll find all the information you need about Tiger’s eye in general, as well as the different types.
Tiger’s eye is most commonly associated with the root chakra (Muladhara), located at the bottom of the spine. However, it also works together with the sacral (Svadihsthana) and solar plexus chakras (Manipura). Different types of Tiger’s eye also have additional associations.

NOTE: Regular tiger’s eye is sometimes also called golden or yellow tiger’s eye. It is all the same stone though, so I will just call them all Tiger’s eye. If I talk about a different tiger’s eye, I will specify.

What Chakra Is Tiger’s eye? (Explained)
Tiger’s eye is associated to the root chakra for two reasons: its abilities as well as its color.
As you might know, each chakra represents a different part of ourselves and every crystal has different abilities to help in those areas. There are 7 chakras, which you’ll find below, from lowest to highest.
- The root chakra (Muladhara): our sense of stability and security.
- The sacral chakra (Svadihsthana): the emotional body, sensuality and creativity.
- The solar plexus (Manipura): self-esteem and your overall personal power.
- The heart chakra (Anahata): love, for ourselves and the world around us.
- The throat chakra (Vishuddha): communication, self-expression and trust.
- The third eye chakra (Ajna): our intuition, perception and overall awareness.
- The crown chakra (Sahasrara): the connection to the divine, transformation and clarity.
Tiger’s eye is a remarkably protective stone that can help you settle in to a sense of security and stability in the ‘real’ world. It can help solve the issue of not feeling ‘enough’ and consequently, achieve a comfortable life in finances, relationships, career and more. As a result, you’ll be able to make decisions based on what you need and want, not out of fear or lack. Because of these abilities, this stone is associated with the root chakra, found at the bottom of the spine.
However, that isn’t the only chakra tiger’s eye is associated with. It actually has the ability to realign the three lowest chakras: root, sacral and solar plexus. As all our chakras work together and these three form the base, tiger’s eye is particularly useful if you need help grounding.
Apart from its abilities we can also look at the color. As every chakra has its own color, we can simply match a crystal to the chakra:
- The root chakra is red/brown, but black stones are also a good match.
- The sacral chakra is orange.
- The solar plexus is yellow.
- The heart chakra is green, but also matches with pink stones.
- The throat chakra is blue.
- The third eye chakra is indigo.
- The crown chakra is violet, but also matches with stones that are clear or white.
As you can see, the Tiger’s eye matches perfectly with the root chakra.

Tiger’s Eye Benefits To The Root Chakra
A blocked root chakra can manifest in different ways.
A person with a blocked root chakra is likely to feel very anxious and insecure. As a result, there might be frustration and anger, especially as the blockage manifests as financial issues or low self-esteem.
Physical issues with the root chakra manifest in the area of this energy center; the lower body. You might have issues with the colon, bladder or prostate. You might also have cramps or lower back problems.
As tiger’s eye connects to the root chakra, it can help unblock and heal these issues. You’re likely to feel more comfortable in your own skin and protected from negative outside influences. Please beware, crystals are never a replacement for medical help. Always go to a doctor if you experience serious issues. You can then work with your Tiger’s eye to support treatment.

Physical issues with the throat chakra manifest in the area of this energy center; the neck and mouth. You might experience neck, jaw or throat pains, thyroid issues or problems with the teeth and gums.
Where To Place Tiger’s eye On The Body?
Where you put your tiger’s eye completely depends on what you use it for. Below you’ll find some guidelines for both jewelry as well as meditation, depending on what you are looking for.
As a general rule, it is best to keep the stone on the skin closest to the appropriate chakra. If you are meditating with the Tiger’s eye and like to lie down, just place it on your lower abdomen. You can also keep it in your hand if you prefer.
If you prefer to wear tiger’s eye, I recommended wearing it as a bracelet or ring. If you’re wanting to wear blue tiger’s eye, you could also wear it as a necklace on a shorter chain.
Be careful about which hand you hold it in or put it on; there are two different opinions on this.
Some say the left hand is your receiving hand, while your right is your giving hand. Depending on what you are looking for from your crystal, you can place it on either of those sides. In this case, this left-in and right-out is just the flow of energy through the body which never changes.
Others however, believe that this flow of energy changes depending on if you’re left or right-handed. Your dominant hand (the hand that you write with) is your giving hand and releases energy. Your non-dominant hand is the receiving hand.
You can place tiger’s eye in either the receiving or giving hand, depending on the intention. Do you want to protect yourself ground yourself (receiving hand), or do you want to release anxiety, fear or anger (giving hand)?
As you can see, there are different views. Personally, I would recommend trying out both sides and see how you feel. Crystals are meant to be used intuitively, so use this to decide which side works for you.
