Amethyst For The Zodiac Signs

We can determine a crystals association to zodiac signs in several different ways; planet association, birthstones and the crystal’s ability. I’ll briefly explain each of these below.

Planet Association Amethyst

We can determine which zodiac sign matches with a crystal by looking at the ruling planet. Every crystal is associated with a planet or celestial body, and so are the zodiac signs. When we say a sign is ruled by a planet, we simply mean that this planet has more power over a sign compared to other planets.

Amethyst is associated with Saturn, the planet of responsibility and determination, which rules Capricorn, and again, Aquarius.

Birthstones Amethyst

For both the traditional and modern list of birthstones, Amethyst is the stone of February. Consequently, it is associated with Aquarians and Pisceans born in that month.

Birthstones were created by allotting a different crystal or gemstone to a specific month. We can use this to determine which crystal is beneficial to each zodiac sign. For example, amethyst is the birthstone of February, making it the birthstone of Aquarians and Pisceans born in that month.

Nowadays, there are 2 lists of birthstones.
On one hand there are the traditional birthstones, which are rooted in The Book of Exodus, which describes Aaron, the priest of the Israelites, wearing a breastplate with 12 stones. Each stone on that breastplate related to one of the Israeli tribes and later linked to the 12 zodiac signs.
Matching a specific stone to a zodiac sign using the traditional list is difficult, as the gemstones were described by color, not a specific stone.

On the other hand, there is the list of modern birthstones, defined by the National Association of Jewelers based partly on the history of Aaron, but also on what is widely available to American jewelers.

Birthstones are thought to bring luck to the wearer and provide it with a comfortable and familiar energy – perfect for when you are feeling a little out of place. This of course, does not mean that you cannot wear another sign’s birthstone.

Properties Amethyst

We can look at the specific properties of each stone to determine which zodiac signs would benefit most from working with it. For example, a stone like fluorite is particularly beneficial to Scorpio as this is a sign that has trouble making up their mind, and fluorite helps with decision making.

Though all signs can benefit from amethyst, the ones that can use the help of this stone most are Virgo, Scorpio, and Taurus.

Benefits Amethyst for Aquarius

We associate Aquarius with amethyst because it is the traditional and modern birthstone for February. Additionally, Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, which is also the planet amethyst is associated with. As a result, Aquarians will find a comforting and familiar energy around this crystal.

Aquarius’ can have a tendency to be pessimistic and impatient, which is exactly what amethyst can help you with. It allows you to be more hopeful and to patiently wait for things to play out after you have done the hard work. This stone can also help alleviate stress, sadness or anger – emotions that Aquarians are often familiar with.

On the other hand, Aquarians are fixed signs, which tend to be good at concentrating and focusing on the work that needs to be done. The fact that they are an air sign makes them thinkers and great communicators. All of this combined means that this zodiac sign is very independent, creative and full of visionaries. With Amethyst being a third eye chakra stone, it will help unlock the great ideas and creativity that you already possess.

Benefits Amethyst for Pisces

Pisces is associated with amethyst because it is the traditional and modern birthstone for February. As a result, Pisceans will find a comforting and familiar energy around this crystal.

Additionally, Pisceans have a tendency to be pessimistic and maybe even a little gullible. Amethyst is associated with the third eye chakra, which means it can help you tap into the intuition that you need to determine if something is right for you. It can also make you feel a little more hopeful about the future. Amethyst can also help you balance your mood, so you are less likely to feel intense anger or deep sadness.

However, Pisceans have many great qualities too. The fact that they are water sign makes them very emotional and receptive to other people’s emotions, and the mutable energy associated with this sign makes them super adaptive to their surroundings. Amethyst can support you to use these qualities to your and other people’s benefit. This way, you’ll be able to empathize with others, whilst also knowing when it is time for you to take a step back.

Benefits Amethyst for Capricorn

We can connect Capricorn to amethyst as well, as both are ruled by or associated with the planet of Saturn. This is the planet of determination and responsibility, and is exactly how most would describe the hard-working Capricorn.

The downside of being this determined and practical is that this sign can be a little unforgiving and has a tendency to want to do all the work themselves. As a result, they can come across as know-it-all’s, or even condescending. In reality, Capricorns really just want structure and know how to get it.
However, this is where amethyst can help. It allows this sign to be a little more relaxed, and forgiving, by calming the nerves. As a result,  Capricorn can become better team workers and even enjoy working with others, instead of it being a stressful activity.

Benefits Amethyst for Virgo

Virgo isn’t associated with amethyst through the planet or birthstone. However, this does not mean that this sign can’t benefit from working with it.

Virgo is a creative and kind sign that is known for being reliable and responsible – not surprising for a pragmatic and stable earth sign. The fact that they have mutable energy in them makes a Virgo comfortable with changes, but only if they feel like it is the right thing to do. They likely won’t start yelling at you for wanting to do things differently, but they will definitely feel anxious about it. Virgos just prefer to do things themselves.

Amethyst is often described as a natural tranquilizer which is something this tense, highly anxious sign can benefit from. It is also very good at helping to manage fear, resulting in a more easy going Virgo. Consequently, this sign will feel a little more balanced and relaxed, ready to use its hard-working and creative qualities in a way that will benefit them.

Benefits Amethyst for Scorpio

Scorpios aren’t associated with amethyst through the ruling planet or birthstone, but can still benefit from working with the stone.

This sign is known for being determined and focused, as a result of its fixed energy. It’s watery energy makes this sign relatively emotional, likely to experience mood swings, from extreme happiness to outbursts of anger. As a result, working with amethyst can help calm a Scorpio down, allowing them to not be overwhelmed by their emotions. That way they can let go of resentment and anger.

Additionally, water signs are generally very intuitive and amethyst is associated with the third eye chakra. This is the chakra of intuition and is located in the area between the eyebrows. Working with amethyst can help Scorpios to unlock their intuition and use it to protect themselves.

Benefits Amethyst for Taurus

Taurus is not associated with amethyst as a birthstone or because they have the same ruling planet. However, this does not mean Taurus cannot benefit from amethyst.

This sign can be a little stuck in their own ways and feel very irritated when they need to change. They are a fixed sign after all, which makes them great at focusing, but also stubborn. Additionally, Taurus is looking for perfection and will not accept anything less than that.

Amethyst can help Taurus let go of some of this pressure, and accept that sometimes things don’t go according to plan. It will alleviate stress and make them feel more comfortable and relaxed. As a result, Taurus can use their hardworking and organized abilities to their advantage, instead of having it work against them.
